What’s the worst that could happen?

Let me tell you something: the key to unlocking the true potential as a seller—or as a human being—starts with that mindset. “What’s the worst that could happen?”

We all spend WAY too much time worrying. What if I miss quota? What if I lose my job? What if this new business I want to start crashes and burns?

Trust me, I’ve been in those shoes before. Operating from a place of pure fear. But here’s the truth: the worst case scenario is almost NEVER as bad as you think.

For me, that realization came after surviving a battle for my life in the hospital and decades of crippling, chronic illness. Those experiences (and the ones I still face today) rewired how I think. Now, the things most people fear? They barely register.

But it takes a big shift to release worry, so let’s start small:

  1. Think about your life. Reflect on the hardest things you’ve ever been through—the real hell you’ve walked through. Now compare that to the “pressure” of hitting your job’s metrics or meeting deadlines. Does it really measure up? For most people, the answer is a confident no.
  2. Anchor yourself in perspective. Once you realize the worst case scenario of looking stupid or losing money (whatever it may) isn’t that bad, you free yourself. That fear? It dissipates. And when you’re not afraid, you’re willing to bet on yourself a little more. You start empowering yourself to be bolder.
  3. Respect your time. Life doesn’t give you unlimited opportunities. Every chance you take is precious. When you stop operating from a place of fear and doubt and worry, you see the urgency of taking action. It’s a big part of why I always say, the faster you learn to shrink the delta between idea and action? The more successful you’ll be.

Changing your mindset personally, will change the game for you professionally.

You’ll prospect with more confidence.

You’ll take calculated risks that others won’t.

You’ll stop hesitating to make the big ask in a deal.
